Concerns about mediating?

If you would like to mediate but have some concerns about doing so, for example, if your relationship with your ex is extremely volatile or there has been domestic abuse, there are things we can do to help. We can arrange different arrival and departure times and have separate waiting areas, so that you don’t meet before mediation starts. (Please note that domestic abuse can exempt you from needing to attend a MIAM)

You can also ask for time out of a session to talk to the mediator on your own if the session becomes difficult.

Generally, mediation works best with both parties in the same room together. However, you may feel that this is just not possible, or desirable in your circumstances. We can offer an indirect negotiation, as an alternative to mediation, where you and your ex remain in separate rooms throughout the session and you never meet each other. The mediator will act as a go-between taking messages between you.

To discuss what we can offer you in particularly difficult circumstances, please call us on 020 7383 0733 or email us at
