Family mediation

When a relationship ends it can be very difficult for everyone involved and the effects can be felt for a long time afterwards.

If you feel that you need some help to sort out the practical aspects of separation, mediation has a lot to offer.

Essentially, mediation is a supported conversation, ensuring your retain responsibility for, and control over, any decisions that need to be made. You and your ex talk to and listen to each other, sharing your thoughts and ideas on, for example, what arrangements you want to make for your children or what financial settlement you would like to see. The support offered by the mediator is to:

• Facilitate that conversation, for example, by highlighting where you are agreeing and disagreeing with each other; and exploring the disagreements further to see what can be done about them

• Be a source of information to help your discussions, for example, explaining the different things you can do with your property or by making suggestions if you are feeling stuck about what you can do

• Ensure you are aware of what parameters the courts apply and what they would normally expect to see in your circumstances

Dialogue holds the mediation quality mark and all our experienced mediators are accredited with the family mediation council.

For family mediation, we have venues in Camden, Croydon, Hackney, Haringey, Kensington and Chelsea, Lambeth and Lewisham.
